Client Testimonial

If you have ever considered hypnotherapy as a possible aid to challenge an issue you are struggling with, please contact Clive. Other than a few mindfulness sessions some years ago I have never sought any type of therapy/intervention to resolve a problem. However, having had a poor experience on a holiday that led to an intense fear of a situation, I realised I needed some help from someone else. I needed to take a positive step forward and improve my resilience. In my case, the problem was an absolute fear of the chairlift, which meant I was dreading a forthcoming ski trip. I had met Clive through work and so I asked him whether hypnotherapy may be an option. Clive agreed to meet me and explained how it works and from there, we planned a number of sessions leading up to my holiday. With Clive's help, I learnt invaluable coping strategies which I practiced at home between our meetings. Clive made me feel very much at ease and together we discussed my fear in a rational way and I could identify triggers but also the way I responded to these triggers. The coping strategies learnt will be useful now and throughout my life. My fear of chairlifts is a thing of the past. The chairlift became a pleasurable experience and gave me opportunity to enjoy the fabulous views while travelling up the mountain ranges. I had a wonderful holiday and look forward to the next. I couldn't have managed it without Clive.

How I Can Help

I am asked to help with a very wide variety of issues. Often the root causes of which are surprisingly simple in hindsight. The most common are listed below. Please do not be detered if you do not see your particular problem listed below. I can only list limited examples on this page. Contact me to discuss your particular issue withut cost or obligation. I may be able to help in ways that are much easier than you think!

Stress

Do you suffer from stress? Do you find that you react emotionally to everyday situations? Do you get worked up by the thoughtless actions of others—perhaps road users, colleagues, friends and family, or even official-looking mail?

Stress in itself is not a bad thing. It keeps us sharp and hones our performance. It can also keep us safe. But in excess and left to get out of hand, it can be very destructive. However stress can become a constant background noise, wearing down your patience, your sleep, and your health. Together, we can work on strategies to help you take back control and restore calm to your everyday life. Help button with link to contacts

Anxiety.

Are you worried about everyday situations? Do you wake up dreading the day? Are you worried about meetings, travelling, money, the mortgage or other everyday things? Things that you think you maybe should not be worried about but you simply can't stop?

Sometimes, even though we know that we do not actually need to be worried, we feel very anxious. It's surprisingly common. We may even suffer physical problems such as IBS, shaking, sweating, headaches etc. The more we try to get on top of the symptoms, somehow they get worse. Sadly, anxiety is very common but happily it is not necessary to continue to suffer from it! Help button with link to contacts

Habits.

Many of us have an annoying habit—that thing that you do that annoys you or those around you. Do you rationalise that all you need is a little willpower to stop? Perhaps that works for a short while, then one day, when you're tired, stressed, or simply not concentrating, you do it again without thinking. Then maybe you feel helpless, hopeless, or like a failure. You may even feel angry with yourself. Does this sound familiar? Help button with link to contacts

Phobias.

Phobias are very common! At some point in our lives we have all been frightened by, or of, something. That fear serves a purpose, but it can all too easily get out of hand. Phobias are essentially a learned behaviour. Perhaps we learned them from our parents. Children are often brought up to be afraid of the dark, or spiders, or to dislike certain foods. We are sometimes habitually alarmed by often trivial things. But this fear can have a detrimental effect upon our everyday lives. Does this resonate with you? Help button with link to contacts

Lack of confidence.

Sometimes life deals us a series of blows that are hard to cope with. Sometimes we are adversely effected by our childhood or something that was said or done to us. This often leads to problems with confidence. Do you find that you worry about your ability to perform certain tasks, maybe at home, or at work. You try really hard to do a good job but somehow you never seem to be able to do it as well as other people! Often people may tell you that you are good at it, but you believe 'they're just being kind'! Maybe you're good at your job but hate meetings, you are reluctant to offer input or do presentations. You could be suffering from a lack of confidence. It sounds like a simple thing, but it can have a poor effect on your work and private life. If this sounds like it is happening to you, you may be lacking in confidence. Help button with link to contacts

Low self esteem.

Low self esteem and a lack of confidence are often linked. In a similar way to a lack of confidence, there are many ways that our opinion of ourselves can be adversely effected. We may have had a poor childhood, constantly told that we were not nice, or would never amount to much. Bullying, harrassment, abusive relationships, and job loss are just a few of the many ways our confidence and opinion of ourselves can be detrimentally effected by events outside of our control. We learn to disapprove of ourselves. The affects can be accumulative and severe. What can be learned, can be un-learned! Does this sound in anyway like your life? Help button with link to contacts
